Allstate Megastar: Ramandeep Kaur

Ramandeep Kaur.

Consultant, ASPL India

I belong to Patiala, the Royal City of Punjab, where I completed my early education. Post graduating in Bachelor of Technology degree from Chandigarh Group of Colleges in 2016, I began my internship with Wipro. My developer journey started in Hyderabad, post which I moved to Bangalore where I came to know about Allstate through my network. At Allstate, I am a part of the Data Analytics and Responsive Technology (DART) team and on a global level, I assist the Creative Tech team. My current role has given me an opportunity to spearhead a project, develop and set a roadmap. I took this challenge head-on and immersed myself into the great learning experience that it has turned out to be. It was all possible by the constant mentorship I've received from Adam Velma — Senior Front End engineer in Allstate Northbrook, Chicago.

My progress made a difference to the organization and our global team appreciated my contribution at every step. This was only possible due to Allstate's collaborative atmosphere that is conducive to personal and team growth. I was able to identify some gaps and loopholes in the process which led to a significant amount of validation and assistance from my entire team and our global leaders. Identifying the issues and resolving them gave me a lot of confidence and pushed me to take up more work, expanding my horizons. Looking back, it was my early days that set a solid foundation for me. I worked on a crucial internal project for 9 months where I got an opportunity to demonstrate my work to our key partners and the UX team. My first onshore trip for Allstate was to Belfast, Northern Ireland office. I managed to complete my mandatory certification course training for LUMA and I also had the opportunity to participate in prestigious industry events like NASSCOM — Design Summit in September 2018 and UBS FORUMS — 5th CX Strategy Summit March 2019, which has given me a 360-degree exposure to the business.

Apart from my assigned roles and responsibilities, I have volunteered for the collaborative sessions of Allstate Northern Ireland and Allstate India. The agenda of the session was to identify challenges, opportunities and goals. Everyone participated and provided their inputs. For my contribution, I received a 'Spotted' award in Quarter 2, 2019 and 'Standing Ovation' in the month of November 2019.

I would like to thank my manager: Mridu Kashyap, from Northbrook, Chicago for guiding me throughout. My other two managers, Brian McGuinness from Allstate Northern Ireland and Adolf Mathew from Charlotte, North Carolina, have also been a great support system. My Allstate journey wouldn’t have been half as fulfilling without Sheela Nagaraj, Manager DART and Subhobroto Ghosh, Director Analytics who mentor our team at Allstate India. I would also like to express my gratitude towards my project owners: Rahul Kothari, Abhay Kanodia, Shea Finnegan and Alfasha Zulfiki, the backend team leads Sanjeev Kumar Tiwari & Rahul Dwivedi, my DART teammates: Lifna K Subramnian, Abhishekgouda Hanamantagouda Patil and Rahul Umrao and Gregory Peczkowicz from home office.

Just one month into joining the organization, I came first in the Ramp Walk event which was organised by Allstate’s Cultural Committee in August 2018. Over the years I have also actively participated in the Annual day event. Moreover, this year I took part in Allstate’s Best Out of Waste and Rangoli competitions. I absolutely enjoy working at Allstate and I also like to indulge in my hobbies like gourmet cooking and listening to music. I’m a big-time movie buff and once in a while, I also enjoy giving myself up to retail therapy.
